ASSASSIN’S CREED UNITY | CO-OP TRAILER
CREATIVE DIRECTOR, DIRECTOR, EDITOR, WRITER
Ubisoft needed a trailer to show off the major new co-op feature of Unity and deliver on the tag line: UNITE. At the time it was early in development with unstable code, but FWS took up the technical and creative challenge.
On release, the trailer was well received with a notable rise in pre-sales.
I found exploring the world of Unity feels very modern and immediate. This became the visual inspiration.
Unity presents the horror of la Terreur in gory, photorealistic detail. Like Black Hawk Down or The Hurt Locker - it is a beautiful representation of an horrific period.
We shot in a modern style setting the camera to imitate a large format cine-camera masked for 2.39 — shallow focus bokeh, drone shots, orange-teal colour palette, slow motion, long lenses and close up action.
Co-op wasn’t operational through most of the shoot so it was difficult to shoot any sort narrative footage. However, after long days of struggle the images fell into place.
